Between Aug. 15 and Sept. 2, the five major political parties have spent a combined $2.7 million on Facebook ads, although how much each party has spend and where they focus their money varies considerably.

At $1.7 million, the Liberal Party has spent more than all the other parties combined. Spending has focused on B.C., Ontario and Quebec, although in the last week of August spending ticked up in New Brunswick and Nova Scotia as well.
NDP spending has focused on B.C., where polling shows them doing well, as well as Ontario, Saskatchewan and Newfoundland and Labrador. An NDP spokesperson said Facebook was one part of a multi-pronged digital ad strategy.
The Conservative Party spent the least of the three main parties. Most of their spending was done in Ontario, Quebec and B.C.
