By the end of May, B.C. appeared to have “flattened the curve” of coronavirus infections and there was a partial reopening of services, including some children returning to school.
By September, however, cases began to rise again, primarily in the Fraser and Vancouver Coastal health authorities.
Cases continued to rise throughout the fall, increasing dramatically as colder weather arrived, causing authorities to re-implement temporary restrictions on businesses and some high-risk activities, like indoor sports and restaurant dining. The vast majority of the new cases have occurred in the Lower Mainland.
